Our Overall Rating: 4.6 / 5 (Excellent)

Choice Home Warranty offers a full array of home appliance and systems coverage at a competitive price. The company offers two plans for existing home owners —Basic and Total. In addition to a monthly premium, customers can expect to pay an $85 service fee each time they make a claim, which falls in low-to-mid range when compared to other home warranty companies.

You can submit a claim 24/7, including holidays, via phone, online, or app. The company utilizes proprietary technology to begin the dispatching process after a claim is filed. The company has recently updated their plans increasing coverage and has fewer limitations. Their plans and optional coverage can cover over 25 major systems and appliances.

Choice Home Warranty earns a B rating from the Better Business Bureau and has a positive rating on Trustpilot, but in this industry, negative customer reviews far outnumber positive ones.

Coverage Options - 4.5 / 5

Choice Home Warranty offers existing homeowners two plans, each of which cover a mix of systems and appliances. The primary difference between its Total plan and its Basic plan is that refrigerators, washers and dryers, and air conditioning systems are not included in the Basic Plan. Optional coverage for such items as pools and spas, well pumps, and septic systems is available for an additional fee. The company states that, in any case, its total liability for any single item is capped at $3000, but lower limits do apply to some covered items.

We requested a quote for a single family home of less than 5000 square feet in a small midwestern city. The premium for Choice Home Warranty's Basic was $47.85 per month and the premium for its Total pan was $54.95 per month. With the cost difference between the two plans being only about $7 per month, to our mind, the Total plan a better value overall because it includes coverage for three of the most common appliances: refrigerators, washers, and dryers. It also includes coverage for air conditioning systems.

The company's co-pay for a service call is $85, slightly less than most comparable companies. The co-pay may be reduced further with special discounts and promotions.

This company is best described as a fraud. They do not fulfill their contract. They feed you endless excuses as to why they can't send a technician to your home to fix something you've contacted them about for months. Their "reimbursement option" is a joke - because they never pay. I've spoken to service providers in my area and they will not work with CHOICE because "they do not pay." Do not use them. Save your money.

Our technician was the best!! She was prompt and responsive with our initial texting to review the problem and set up an appointment. She was very knowledgeable and fixed our fridge and freezer up super fast! She was kind and took the time to explain everything she was doing. Thank you!

We recently had a plumbing problem when the toilets backed up a couple of times, and then the clothes washer drain over flowed. We definitely had a problem. I put the call in to Choice Home Warranty in the late afternoon and they were able to set up a plumber to come out the next morning. We live in Tampa, FL and they sent Alter Plumbing out for the job. The plumbing technician was friendly, efficient and thorough. He cleared the line all the way to the front of the property and was able to get a camera in the line to determine that we had some roots in the line at the point where it joined the city sewer line. He called the City for us and arranged to have them send out a crew to further...Read More

Which he did a good job and was ver cordial on the phone. The invoice was for $60.00 but our Choice Home warranty indicates service calls would be 45.00 did our rates go up? Let me know thanks.

I had a plumbing problem with a shower valve. It became a major issue where the entire valve needed to be replaced. The plumber did a good job but it left a hole in the wall. The plumber said he didn't know how that got fixed. Ended up messaging with Choice. I was told I needed a new claim for the drywall. I could not actually open a claim like that on-line. A representative called and said she would open it. Then she said I had to pay an additional service fee. This was a problem caused by the plumber and paying $45 for someone to patch a 10 inch hole is ridiculous. So I had to cancel the claim. A fix is a fix not multiple parts.
